DAY 01 : BANGALORE

Vidhana SoudhaBangalore is the capital city of Karnataka state. Its also called the garden city of South India. City tour of Bangalore visiting - The Vidhana Soudha makes the major attraction in Bangalore. The building is a massive neo Dravidian architecture presently functioning as the state legislative assembly. Cubbon Park in the heart of the city, Lal Bagh which is famous for the wonderfully bloomed red roses and the Bangalore Palace are some of the other must see of this garden city. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 02 : BANGALORE TO MYSORE (140KMS – 3.0HRS)

Mysore PalaceDeparting from the hotel after early breakfast we drive to the palace city - Mysore. On arrival check in to hotel and later proceed for the city tour of Mysore visiting Maharaja’s Palace built as recently as 1897, which is one of the biggest in India; Sri Jauyachamarajendra Art Gallery housed in the Jag Mohan Palace, which has a collection of exquisite paintings and leisure in evening at hotel. DAY 03 : MYSORE / BANGALORE

Chamundeshwari HillsAfter the Breakfast at Hotel proceed to the Mysore City Sightseeing like Chamundeshwari Hills On Chamundi Hill is a temple to Goddess Chamundi, a form of the Female Power ‘Shakti’. It commemorates Her victory over the demon bull Mahishasur after whom Mysore is named. Coming down the hill is the largest Nandi Bull (the vehicle of Shiva) in the country. Towering at a massive 5 meters, carved from a single rock in 1659 this sculpture is really a must-see. The Mysore Zoo is said to be among the best maintained in India. In the mornings the tigers are let out of their cages to roam in the comparatively more natural habitat of the enclosure. The overwhelming neo-Gothic St. Philomena’s Cathedral is one of the largest in India. Later drive back to Bangalore.

Day 01 : Arrive at Bangalore

Day 02 : Bangalore - Mysore (2 hrs-Drive)


Mysore Morning breakfast, check out and proceed to Mysore, en-route visit Srirangapatna -Tippu's Summer Palace. On arrival at Mysore, transfer to hotel. After lunch proceed to visit St.Philomina's church and world famous Brindavan Garden. Overnight at hotel.


Day 03 : Mysore - Ooty (4.5hrs-Drive)


OotyMorning after breakfast proceed to Ooty, en-route visit Bandipur and Mudumalai Wild life Sanctuaries. On arrival transfer to hotel. After lunch visit Botanical Garden, Ooty Lake. Overnight halt at hotel.


Day 04 : Ooty – Bangalore and Depart


After breakfast drive back to Bangalore. Later transfer to the airport to board your onward flight.

MangaloreMangalore the headquaters of Dakshina Kannada has many beautiful beaches. One should see the Yakshagana performance here. The best season to visit Mangalore is between September and February. Mangalore with narrow winding streets, coconut trees, beaches houses with terracotta tiled roofs, temples and churches is an excellent tourist destination. Mangala Devi Temple, an ancient 10th century, from which the town derived it name, is located just 2 kms from the city. Kadri Manjunatha Temple and Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Temple are very close to the city.

The prasiddha saptama piligirm sites can be visited from Mangalore.

Dharmasthala Manjunatha Temple


DharmasthalaAbout 75 kms from Mangalore on the slopes of the Western Ghats is the Manjunatha Temple. The temple is administered by the Heggades, a Jain family.

Therefore, the 39 feet statue of Bahubali on the hill near the temple spells the amalgamation of Vaishanvaites and Jains. The Laksha Deepotsava held in November-December is worth watching.

Kukke Subrahmanya Temple

Kukke Subramanya TempleThe Kukke Subrahmanya temple surrounded by rivers, forests and mountains is 104 kms from Mangalore. God Subrahmanya is worshipped as a snake here.

The village of Subramanya, in which the temple is located, lies in the Sullia Taluk in south Kanara. Subramanya used to be called as Kukke Pattana in the past. Adi Shankaracharya camped here for a few days. He referred to this place as 'Bhaje Kukke Lingam' in his 'Subrahmanya Bhujangaprayata Stotram'.

Udupi

UdupiUdupi is the headquarters of the Udupi District. It is 50 kms from Mangalore. It is well known for the Krishna temple and Kannada vegetarian cuisine. The best time to visit is in September – October.

Udupi is famous for the Shri Krishna temple. It is the birthplace of Madhvacharya, the founder and teacher of ‘Suddha Dvaitha’ philosophy who set up Ashta Mathas.

Kollur

KollurKollur is the home of Mookambika temple. Kollur is 135 kms from Mangalore and 80 kms from Udupi. Located in the valley of Kodachadri peak of Western Ghats, the temple is on the bank of river Sauparnika the Goddess Mookambika is in the form of Jyotirlinga depicting both Shiva and Shakthi. Adi Shankaracharya consecrated the Panchaloha of the Goddess.

Sringeri

SringeriSringeri is a picturesque town on the foot of the Western Ghats in Chikmaglur district. It is on the banks of river Thunga. A drive to Sringeri through the ghat section is enchanting. Sringeri, one of the foremost Shakthi Sthalas of India, is 150 kms from Mangalore and 336 km from Bangalore.

There are many shrines and temples in and around Sringeri. Adi Sankaracharya established the Sree Sharada temple here. Sringeri is one of the four Advaitha Mutts that Shankaracharya set up in India. The Mutt in Sringeri is called the Sree Saradha Peetam.

The best time to visit Sringeri is between October and March.

Hornadu

HoranaduHoranadu also in Western Ghats is 100 kms from Chikmagalur and 75 kms from Sringeri. It is located in the midst of thick forests and valleys. The ancient temple of Goddess Annapoorneshwari is here. Pilgrims are provided with food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and place to sleep in the temple premises.

Mulki

MulkiThe temple in Mulki is situated on the bank of Shambhavi River. Mulki is 29 kms from Mangalore. The main deity of this temple is Goddess Shree Durgaparameshwari.

Coorg

CoorgCoorg or Kodagu as it is officially known is one of the tiniest district in the southern part of Karnataka covering an area of 4,104 Sq Km. Coorg was a state, before its merger with Karnataka in the year 1956, with an elected chief minister and The Legislative Assembly. At present it is a part of Mangalore Lok Sabha Parliament Constituency and three MLAs [One each from Mercara, Virajpet and Somwarpet] are elected from Coorg to Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

Coorg consists of three taluks or administrative units viz Madikeri or Mercara, the District HeadQartres, Virajpet and Somvarpet. Coorg borders Mysore district to its east, Dakshina Kannada district on the west, Hassan district in the north and the state of Kerala to the south.

The largest river here, River Cauvery, which the local people worship, rises on the eastern side of the Western Ghats. Its tributaries drain the greater part of Coorg. Besides these there are several large streams that take their rise in Coorg.

Coorg is the largest producer of Coffee in India. Pepper, Cardamom and oranges are grown extensively in this part. Coorg is one of the major places that get heavy rainfall in India. The yearly rainfall may exceed 160”. In the dense jungle tract it reaches from 120” to 150”; in. the bamboo district in the west from 60” to 100”. Coorg, which is blessed with thick forest shelters Sandal wood, Rose wood and numerous variety of trees.

The loftiest peak, Tadiandamol, has an altitude of 5729 ft.; Pushpagiri, another peak, is 5626 ft. high. Coorg has an average temperature of about 60 F; the extremes being 52 and 82.

Coorg holds a Guinness record for the largest family sports tournament in the world. Every year the kodava families play each other for the Family Cup and over 300 family teams participate in it. Some of the teams even include women players, who have the choice to play either for their husband or their father’ team. All the participants aging from 6 to 60 are related by blood.
